Quarterbacks Head ITCL Signing Class
Two of the top quarterbacks of the ITCL in 2008 have signed letters of intent to continue their football careers at the college level.  Springfield's Nathan Schuler is going to Akron University, while McDonald's Matt Krumpak will attend Lake Erie College.  Other players from the ITCL that have made a college choice were Columbiana linemen Kurt Huston and United linebacker Bill Prosko.  Huston has decided on Colgate, while Prosko is moving on to the military academy at West Point.
Schuler is the only ITCL players this year to sign with a division 1 school.  He broke a Schuler tradition with his choice as older brothers Jim, Dan, and Andrew have all played at Mercyhurst College.  Andrew is currently a redshirt sophmore linebacker at Mercyhurst.  Ironically, the Zips have Nathan tab as a linebacker as well, just like brother Andrew.  For the Tigers, the 6'2, 215 pound Nathan played the 2008 season as a safety and had a tremendous season despite some nagging injuries.
McDonald's Matt Krumpak decided on Lake Erie College which has just started a football program.  2008 will be the first season for the Storm in NCAA Division II competition.  He will join fellow ITCL quarterback Jarrett Welton from Columbiana, and former South Range linebacker David Heck.  The 6'1, 175 pound Krumpak threw for 1,100 yards and 13 touchdowns in his senior year, while leading the Blue Devils to a Co-Championship of the ITCL Lower Tier.
Bill Prosko of United is a young man of great character, and nothing proves it more than his decision to serve his country at West Point.  The 6'2, 210 pound Prosko has been the leading tackler for the Eagles the past three years from his linebacker spot, while also starting two years on the offensive line.  Prosko will feel comfortable at West Point as he has an older sister Emmy, who is currently in her third year at the academy.  Other schools that recruited Prosko were Colgate, Harvard, and numerous Division 2 schools.
Speaking of Colgate, that is where standout Columbiana linemen Kurt Huston is going to attend.  Huston, a 6'3, 235 offensive/defensive linemen was named NEO Honorable Mention and to the ITCL 1st team defensive team.  Huston was instrumental in the Clippers stingy defense, and should be a force with the Raider team in 2008.  Huston will join area player Matt Zimmerman of Howland who is a freshman linemen at Colgate.
Many additional ITCL players will be making decisions on college choices in the coming months, and we want to take this opportunity to pass on to all ITCL players our best wishes.  We will try to list as many of these future decisions as we can verify.
