Week #2 in the ITCL
                          South Range 28  Independence 7
North Lima -- Junior running back Hunter Spitz lead a punishing rushing attack as the Raiders beat the Blue Devils 28-7.  The win evens the Raiders record at 1-1 on the season as they attempt to get back to their winning ways.

With the score tied at 7-7 defensive back Jack Dawson intercepted a pass from Devils quarterback Sam Stretar early in the second quarter to set up the go ahead score .  Independence had executed a perfect fake punt to set up their tying score at 7-7 on their first possession.  The Raiders lead 21-7 at halftime.  Next week the Raiders travel to Alliance to take Division 3 Marlington.
South Range coach Yeagley post game comments.
                               Leetonia 19  Columbiana 6
Columbiana -- A tenacious defensive and the running of Bears quarterback Josh Selway lead Leetonia to a 19-7 win.  Selway scored on a 45-yard run, and had nearly 200 yards rushing to lead the Bears.  He also played great at his defensive back spot as the Bear's revenge a heartbreaking 24-21 loss in 2007.  The Clippers had a couple costly penalties, and were unable to convert on a few fourth down conversion.

The ITCL had a GREAT night as the league went 11-5 in non-conference play.  The Tigers of Springfield came up with another big win, while Jackson-Milton has started the season 2-0.  The Lower Tier pre-season favorites, the Devils of McDonald and Western Reserve both had impressive wins, and Southern looks to be a contender with a solid win tonight to put all three teams at 2-0 on the season.
Bryan Visingardi kicked a 32-yard field goal in the final moments as the Springfield Tigers improve their record to 2-0 by beating a scrappy Youngstown Christian Eagles squad.  Crestview needed no dramatics as they rolled over Brookfield 42-0, and United had a very impressive 29-0 win over neigboring rival Salem to even their record at 1-1.
Mineral Ridge beat Grand Valley 33-6 as they also have bounced back from a disappointing week #1.  While Wellsville has looked impressive as they are now 2-0 on the early season with a convincing 46-14 win over the Toronto Red Knights.
McDonald blasted an old thorn in the form of the Windham Bombers with a 56-21 win, and Western Reserve destroyed Newcomerstown 49-0.  Southern has also looked very impressive in the first two weeks as they beat Lisbon 48-0 tonight.  The Blue Jays of Jackson-Milton have also had a great first two weeks as they beat Rootstown 20-14.
Unfortunately, the Sebring Trojans fell again tonight with a loss to a very quick Southington squad 18-52, and the Lowellville Rockets struggled tonight against a very good Woodridge team 0-27.  East Palestine ran into a buzz-saw as they were soundly beaten by the LaBrae Vikings 13-62.
With the 11-5 record in week #2, the ITCL has improved to 20-12 on the season in their non-conference schedule.  Next week looks to be another outstanding weekend for high school football and the ITCL!
