Leetonia 12 Lisbon 10 Lisbon - The Leetonia Bears used a 58-yard touchdown pass from quarteback Cody Stokes to RJ Pacella with just 8:15 left in the game to win 12-10 over Lisbon. Stokes would also score on a 7-yard run in the second quarter as he would account for all of the Bears points. It looked like right from the opening kick-off that Stokes would have a big night as he lead the Bears to the Devils 1-yard line on their opening possession. However, on a fourth and goal from the one, the Devils defense would stuff Stokes on a quarterback sneak and force the Bears to turn the ball over on down. The Devils would answer back just before the half with a 64-yard drive that resulted in a Danny Reese 25-yard field goal. The kick would cut the Bears advantage to 6-3 at halftime. Lisbon would grab the early momentum in the second half as they would march 52-yards on 8 plays and score on an 11-yard touchdown pass to Zac Barnes from quarterback Eric Walker. With the score at the 6:18 mark of the third quarter the Devils took the lead 10-6 over the Bears. Two possessions later, Stokes would hook up with Pacella on the 58-yard touchdown bomb down the left sideline. The play resulted after a timeout by the Bears due to Stokes taking a shot to the chin guard on the play before. The Bears defense would then take charge of the game as they shut down the Devils offense in the fourth quarter. Twice they would sack Devils quarterback Walker, and held the Devils to only 1-yard of offense in their final two possessions. On the night Stokes would accumilate 11 yards rushing with a touchdown, and was 3 of 8 passing for 79 yards and a touchdown. Leading the Devils was junior running back Zak Leko with 51 yards rushing, while Zac Barnes would contribute 25 yards rushing and had 3 receptions for 27-yards and a touchdown.

McDonald - Senior quarterback Nick Russell led the Tigers to a 29-0 win at McDonald to start the 2011 campaign. Russell would throw 3 touchdown passes, and run for one on the night to help the Tigers jump out to a quick 6-0 lead in the 1st quarter, and helped them pull away from there. Russell would throw touchdown passes of 45 and 61 yards to Tommy Mastran for scores, and also a 77-yard TD pass to Jeremy Weingart. Christian Feezle would also add a 4-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Lexi Zubick would add a 21-yard field goal and 2 point after conversions. The Springfield defense would keep the Blue Devils offense bottled up for much of the night as they would take advantage of their speed. McDonald's Austin Bucan would manage to tally 86-yards on the night to lead the Devils offensively. The win, their second in a row over the Devils give the Tigers a 1-0 record heading into their game against Youngstown Christian next week, while the Devils must regroup as they travel to Oberlin next Friday.

Campbell - It was the Ja'les Hughes show at John Knapick Stadium as he would rush for 115 yards and score 4 touchdowns to lead the Red Devils. The Red Devils quarterback Brandon Reyes also had a big game as he completed 9 of 11 passes for 88 yards and a touchdown. The Rams were able to keep the Red Devils pretty much in check in the 1st quarter, only trailing 7-0 at the end of the quarter. But the Devils would explode for 4 scores in the second stanza and they never looked back. The Rams offense struggled all night as they were only able to amass 112 total yards on the night, and only made 4 first downs. In fact their initial first down did not come until mid-way through the second quarter. To add to their misery, the Rams turned the ball over 4 times, and were shut out for the first time since 2008. The Rams will face LaBrae next week.
