A Trip Around the ITCL
With six games in the ITCL having important playoff implications we wanted to take a brief look at each of these games to see where the teams in our league are going.
Jackson-Milton Blue Jays     6
Wellsville Tigers                 30
The Wellsville Tigers gave themselves a shot at the playoffs with win.  They would score late in the 1st quarter to go up 7-0, and then blow the game wide open in the 2nd stanza with two TD runs and a safety. After a scoreless third quarter the Tigers sealed the game with a Brightwell 10-yard run to go up 30-0.  Unfortunately the Jays star running back Brennen Morrison would suffer a broken collar bone in the game.
Columbiana Clippers    55
Mineral Ridge Rams      7
The Clippers did what they needed to do in order to qualify for the playoffs as they scored early and often.  The Clippers were led once again by their stand-out senior QB Austin Barbato.  barbato would score both rushing and passing the ball as the Clippers improve to 8-2 on the season and await the final computer polls.

Western Reserve Blue Devils   35
McDonald
Blue Devils                7
The streak is over!  Reserve would jump out early on a Tommy Marlowe 40-yard run, and would be turned away on downs on their next possession.  But they would score two quick TD just before halftime to go up 21-0.  QB Jeff Clegg would throw 2 3rd quarter TD passes to push the Reserve advantage to 35-0 before McDonald would score on a Stephen Vidman TD run.
Springfield Tigers        41
United Eagles                6
Springfield also did their part to secure a playoff birth with a win at United.  As has been the case all year, QB Nick Russell led the Tiger offense with 278 passing yards and 3 TD's.  He would also add a fourth score rushing.  Joey Ohlin received two of those TD tosses.
Southern Indians          35
Sebring Trojans           34
The Trojans jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the 1st quarter as they looked to upset the Indians.  However the Indians would battle back and close the gap to 21-14 at halftime.  The Trojans would score once more in the 3rs stanza, the Indians would score twice in the 4th to tie it up, and eventually win in overtime.  In a gutsy call, Coach Springer of Sebring would go for two in overtime for the win, however the pass attempt failed and the Indians escaped with the win.
Crestview Rebels        45
Lisbon Blue Devils       7
The Rebels had no let-up in their game as they dominated from the start in the convincing win at Lisbon.  They would jump out to a 35-0 lead at halftime and then put it on cruise control as they substituted heavily in the second half.
Lowellville Rockets       00

Leetonia Bears             20

Leetonia - The Leetonia Bears used a suffocating defense to slug out a 20-0 victory over Lowellville in a game played in a mud bowl.  The Bears defense would hold the Rockets just to just 8-yards rushing and 76 total yards, while intercepting Rocket quarterbacks four times.
The Bears quarterback Cody Stokes would throw two touchdown passes of 3-yards to Alex Maltbie and a 10-yard toss to Zack Van Giesen to lead the Bears offensively to victory.
The Rockets had a chance to score early as they would block a Bear punt at the Leetonia 29-yard line, however they would only be able to move the ball to the 15 before they would be forced to turn it over on downs.
After the two teams exchanged numerous possessions, the Bears R.J. Pacella would pick off the first of four Rocket pass attempts at the 50-yard line.  From there the Bears would score on the Stokes to Maltbie pass with just 20 seconds remaining in the half.
The Bears would score on their first possession of the second half with a 55-yard, 9-play drive, with Zack Van Giesen plowing into the end zone from 9-yards out.  The score at the 7:00 minute mark of the third quarter gave the Bears a 13-0 advantage.
Following another interception, this time by the Bears linebacker Tom Cruz, they would score on a 64-yard, 14-play drive with Stokes hitting Zack Van Giesen on the score.
The Bears defense would pick off two more Rocket passes late in the game as the Rockets were forced to go to the air with the 20-0 deficit.
Stokes would hit on 5 of 10 passes on the night for just 51 yards, but he had the 2 TD's and 0 interceptions.  Van Giesen would lead the Bears in rushing with 53 yards on 12 carres.  Randy Pavlicko would lead the Rockets with 46 yards on 8 carries.
