Carter Hill's Leadership and Talent Leads the Rebels in the ITCL Race
If you don't know who Carter Hill is, then you are certainly are not a fan of the ITCL.  Hill has become one of the premiere quarterbacks in the league, and leads all ball carriers in rushing yards with 674 yards and 8 touchdowns.  But it is also what he does in the huddle and off the field that makes him a special player.
"Carter is a great teammate.  I believe he cares about the biggest senior to the smallest freshmen.  You can't put a finger on it, but this is a peice of what it means to be a leader," Rebels coach Paul Cusick would remark about Hill. Cusick would go on, "Carter is a true warrior.  He will do whatever it takes to win, but more importantly he prepares for what it takes to win."
Last week the entire Mahoning Valley had the opportunity to see his talents at work on the MyYTV "Game of the Week" as he lead an impressive 35-14 victory over previously unbeaten East Palestine.  On the night, Hill would rush for 278 yards and four touchdowns. "I wouldn't say it was surprising.  It was a combination of our offense starting to come together and Carter took advantage of his opportunities," Cusick remarked. As coach Jeff Sharky of East Palestine would remark, "You could see the tremendous effort that he put into every play."
Crestview has certainly had some tremendous quarterbacks in their recent past, including Tony Britton and Jordan Reynolds, but according to Cusick it is impossible to make any comparisons between them.  "I don't think you can compare any of those guys.  To play QB for us: #1 you have to be a leader and that is what Carter has compared to Jordie and Tony," Cusick explained.  He would go on to discuss what it means to be a Rebel signal-caller, "Also, you have to understand what being a leader means.  It doesn't mean being "the man" it means to serve the TEAM and put the TEAM before you and Carter absolutely understands that."
Most fans are very familiar with the Hill family as older brother Corey lead the Rebels in rushing last year, and was one of the top players in not just the league, but in the entire Mahoning Valley.  But they are definitely different people both on and off the football field.  "Both have great work ethic and understand leadership; very similiar athletically, but the difference would be in their personalities.  Corey is extremely focused and has a sense of seriousness about him.  Carter has a more relaxed personality.  Corey had no problem laughing at something funny, but Carter likes to be the funny guy that makes others laugh.  Most of all, both are extremely humble, coachable, and will do whatever it takes to make their teammates better and win the game," Cusick said.
With Hill leading the Rebels both physically and with his leadership, they look to prepare for a long and successfull season.  What may be even more disconcerting to the rest of the ITCL is that Carter is only a junior.  It is hard to believe that he could actually improve his game.  Many Defensive coordinators will be suffering some sleepness nights before facing Crestview.
