| Even though the ITCL only had ten members participating in the Jack Arvin All-Star Game, they played key roles in leading the Mahoning/Columbiana (Red Team) to a win over the Trumbull (White Team). A 48-yard pass from Sebring's Kyle Nannah to Leetonia's Jake Kruegel late in the third quarter would prove to be the winning score of the game. | ||||||||||||||||||
| The Red Team would score first in the contest on a 17-yard pass from Ursuline's Dan Turner to Campbell's Antwan Dawson with just 43 seconds remaining in the first quarter. However, on the Red's next possession, Hannah would have a pass picked off by Howland's Josh Kostraba and returned 50 yards for a tying score. The Red Team would score again, this time late in the second quarter when Turner would hit Poland's Jason Simons, who out ran the defenders for a 65-yard jaunt. The Red team would attempt a field goal just before the half, but the kick would fall short of the crossbar. The second half started with the White Team turning the ball over on downs after a long 54-yard drive. That would set up the Nannah to Kruegel 48-yard pass play with 4:08 left in the third quarter. That play would put the Red up 21-7. The White Team would threaten twice more. The first time, led by quarterback Matt Krumpak of McDonald, they would travel 54 yards again just to turn the ball over on downs again. Then with only 48 seconds remaining in the contest, Devin O'Brien of Brookfield would hit Mike Carnahan of Hubbard for a 4-yard touchdown strike. The White Team would attempt an on-side kick, however, Jim Sudon of Lowellville would make the recovey. Besides the recovery, Sudon would record an interception, and Nate Carmen of Wellsville would get credit for a sack, and forced numerous errant throws by White Team qb's due to pressure from his defensive line position. Turner was named the player of the game for the Red Team with his 4 of 9 passing for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns. Carnahan would receive the same honor for the White Team following his seven receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown. |
